Chris Brock is a surfer and board designer based in Lennox Head Australia. Having grown up in Sydney, and being part of the Wind 'n' Sea boardriders club, Brocky and his mates would often catch the train North in the mid 1960's to such places as Byron Bay. Brocky was camping in Byron in 1968 when he met George Greenough and helped with the making of the cult surf film 'The Inner Most Limits Of Pure Fun' and during this period was truly inspired by the surfing of greenough and the boards being experimented with. Brocky moved to Angourie and started Wilderness Surfboards in OZ, with his good friend Gary Keys doing the glassing. The tree house is now folklore from Albert Falzons Morning of the Earth film and it was during this time Brocky experimented with flex tail surfboards, hull bottoms and short boards along with surfers like Ted Spencer and Baddy Treloar.
Brocky left Angourie in the early seventies and travelled to New Zealand and then on to Hawaii for 2 years at Taylor Camp surfing the powerful waves, that were uncrowded at the time, due to the petrol shortage of that era. Brocky went from Hawaii to California, where he met up with Greenough again and sailed to Australia via the islands of Tahiti, where they stayed for a whole season.
Today Chris Brock is making highly refined surfboards that are generating a lot of interest in the underground and also from high performance surfers looking for flow with their surfboards. The Tri-plane hull design has been refined for 40 years and today is a sophisticated surf craft for people looking.
